The Family

The last couple of days we’ve been re-decorating the shop for tomorrow’s art opening. Hoping to see y’all tomorrow.

Most welcome.

Kristof Van Heeschvelde exhibition at Mac Fly

Time has come for another instore event, so I invited a talented Gent-based artist over to exhibit his work. June 6th is the day young and upcoming painter Kristof Van Heeschvelde will present a series of visual works, main subject being family. Feel free to come have a drink and chat at the opening.

Last night me and Melika went over for a studio visit. Some of her shots:

Opening last weekend was great!

Brussels really represented past Saturday at the shop. Drinks were served, conversations held and cigarettes smoked. Both wHo? and Parole laid down the finishing touches while Laid Back’s brand new beta online player app was shown. After the opening everybody headed down to Roerkuip where Eric and me forced music upon people via Ableton and Luigi and Azer played massive records. It was a great day. Thanks, my Laid Back people!

New Mac Fly sweaters

Mac Fly sweaters restocked. Added: the new black-on-black design, men + women.

Hometaping

In collaboration with Laid Back, a Brussels-based online magazine/radio show, I’m pleased to announce Hometaping, an exhibition by wHo? & Parole which will be going on here at the store.
I could tell you to expect exclusive records, artwork on glass and lots of calligraphy, yet the best way to experience both of these artists’ work is to come down February 28th when it opens. Of course with free drinks and afterparty at Roerkuip -with tunes selected by Infinitskills, Azer and myself.

Here’s a sneak peek nonetheless.

February 28th – March 14th @ Mac Fly store
Afterparty (10pm) featuring Infinitskills (Laid Back), Azer & Dyno (Mac Fly Sound).
At Roerkuip – Oude Beestenmarkt – 9000 Gent.

JAY DAY

February 14th means Jay Day at Mac Fly. In remembrance of the late James Yancey -who happened to be one of the most influential hip hop artists of all time- Azer and me will be playing nothing but Jay Dee-produced/affiliated music all day. Add to this that there’ll be free drinks and I bet you’ll agree this will be a cool little get-together -especially considering the fact the last time he ever performed live was here in Gent. Grateful to have been there. Noon til 7pm.
